Can You Believe There Was Snow in Louisiana?

Neither could I. But I awoke at 6am yesterday morning with a phone call saying it was snowing here in Robert, Louisiana. I threw on some clothing, pushed open my door and wow! Snow was falling from the sky.

I grabbed my coat and went inside the main house where the last remnants of the Louisiana Ren Faire were gathered in awe to see snow falling. We drank hot chocolate, threw snowballs, made mini-snowmen, and laughed all morning.

Our hostess skipped work. Her husband came back early due to bad traffic. We drove to faire. It was beautiful blanketed in snow. Then the sleet came. It lasted an hour or so.

When we got home, we played poker and prepared for a cold evening. The power had gone out at 8am. They said it would be on again at 4pm. It was not. Nor was it on at midnight. But the generator kept us from freezing at night.

I moved the boys inside the house so we could keep them in one room. They were restless all night. They're still a bit freaked out.

Nevertheless, it was an exciting experience. Here, I thought I was a no-snow jynx. But six inches of snow in a place that has never seen that much before is hardly a jynx. Yay for snow!

I wonder if it would be too much to hope for to wish for snow for Christmas?
