Marc Weeklies: Happy Holiday!
Yay! I finally found my new home in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. It's a lovely one bedroom. That means once I get back from Christmas vacation, I can get back to the routine of work, recording, and finding gigs for next year. I'm way behind. But at least I have a cool new home. I can't wait to start recording there. In the meantime, I recorded an a capella version of a song I wrote today, loosely based on Arthur McBride. If I can't get back online next week, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!
This Week:
-- Quote of the Week: "Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Author unknown, attributed to a 7-year-old named Bobby
-- CD of the Week: The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole. The latest addition to my Christmas album collection.
-- Celtic Invasion of Italy. Save $200 when you sign up for the vacation before December 31st. Send in your money ASAP!
-- Have You Attended Sunset Connoisseurs Society's Weekly Meetings? It's easy to do. And you can do it anywhere around the world. Every Thursday, when the sun sets, take a few moments and enjoy the setting sun. If you want something extra special, throw some of my music on as background for the setting sun. I think A Tribute to Love is a good choice for that.
-- NEW SONG! The idea came to me a few days ago. I joked about it with friends. Today, I wrote a Christmas elf conscription song. Check it out on the Reverbnation widget below.
-- Featured at The Cat's Meow
-- Free Music: "The Celtic Hornblower" by Pete Hawkes
-- Renaissance Festival Podcast #102. Music from Wild Mountain Thyme, The Rogues, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Silent Lion, Kindred Spirits, Coyote Run, The BorderCollies, Marc Gunn, Jim Hancock, Merry Mischief, and Emerald Rose.
-- Bellydancer in Austin. My friend April is a fantastic bellydancer there. She now has her own website.
-- Article: Cat Safety for Christmas
-- UPCOMING GIGS. Right now, I have nothing lined up. I'm still focusing on moving and settling. In the meantime, make sure make a demand on eventful for me. It will help me figure out where I'm gigging in the future.
-- Check me out on Myspace, SoundClick, Demand a Show on Eventful, Wikipedia, Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, Sonicbids, and DeviantArt. And if you'd like a CD...
-- Do you have a quote, movie, album, tip or suggestion that you'd like to share in my Weeklies? If so, post a comment with your suggestion here.
