Marc Weeklies: House Concert Call Out

Hey - Jamie here - Marc's up north somewhere, which considering I live in New Orleans, allows for a lot of options. BUT we rendezvous this weekend for his debut in New York City. THAT'S RIGHT! NEW YORK! So check the show listings for his two shows there.

And those of you in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area, Marc has a show coming up this Thursday at the Market Street Public House in Denton, MD. It's at 7:30 pm, so no excuses on a work night!

I am booking Marc for 2010 now, and there are lots of opportunities to see him live, but I want to urge you to consider a house concert. Just this past weekend, the Fogels of Reston, VA hosted their first one featuring Mr. Gunn, and report that it was a blast and they'll be doing more in the future. Check out the article about house concerts on the website. I will also provide promotional support - things like posters and calendar listings - and if your house isn't big enough, think about a church basement, community center or other alternative. These events REALLY are the best way to enjoy Marc and his music in an intimate and comfortable setting.

Also would love to start playing some colleges, so let me know if you have any ideas on that account.

Starting to crank the publicity machine for "Happy Songs of Death," and would love to hear suggestions from you all about reviewers I can send the CD to, or radio stations and shows that you think would like to play this great new CD. Just email me at booking@marcgunn.com.

That's all for now. As Marc always says, your support and love of his music are the only things that make this big adventure work. Thanks for joining Marc on the journey!

CD of the Week: Special Reserve By Gaelic Storm: "Gaelic Storm's fourth Album released in 2003 allowed the band reflecting time all the while providing the listeners with a simply sensational greatest hits album. Special Reserve packs the best music of Gaelic Storm's previous three albums and some new material all onto one disc and allows music fans to truly gain good appreciation for the band." - Amazon Review

Quote of the Week: "I think there's a bit of the devil in everybody. There's a bit of a priest in everybody, too, but I enjoyed playing the devil more. He was more fun." -Gabriel Byrne

Book of the Week: Four Corners of the Sky By Michael Malone: This is one of Jamie's favorite authors, and the first book he a written in ten years. "Malone's latest brims with humor and pathos-it's engaging, multifaceted saga touting the power of love and family to overcome all, even a lifetime of apparent neglect." -BookPage review

Did you know that Marc is actively on Facebook and Twitter?

Funny quote from Marc's house concert: "You're taller than in your podcast." Dave Fogel

Review these iMixes: Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. I've started messing with iMixes on iTunes as a promotional tool. I could really use your help. Go post review. And if you like some of the music, pick up a copy. It's filled with some of the songs and tunes from my extensive catalog of Celtic music.
