'Conspiracy Theory' on Serendipity Cinema
You may hear the word Hitchcockian thrown around, everyone would like to achieve something that sings of the master, and, so, it gets used when anybody turns a corner and the music makes you jump. You could go a long way before you find anything that has even the slightest resemblance to the works of Sir Alfred. Well, look no further. No, don't pay attention to the fact that it is (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 183)

'Quigley Down Under' on Serendipity Cinema
This is a film that has fans. Quiet fans, to be sure, but fans none the less. It is a classic western for everything but the location. If John Ford were alive, he would have made it. (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 191)

'The Advocate' on Serendipity Cinema
A good guy lawyer? A medieval good guy lawyer? A medieval good guy lawyer defending a pig who is charged with murder? And is isn't a slapstick comedy? This you got to see. (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 182)

'The Ritz' on Serendipity Cinema
This is a delight. A Tony winning stage hit, that, somehow, got overlooked when it hit the screen. Jack Weston, F. Murray Abraham, Treat Williams, Kaye Ballard, Jerry Stiller, and the incomparable Rita Moreno (who won the Tony on Broadway for this one) head this ensemble cast about a terrified man hiding out from the mob in a bath house. It is not a surprise that he is related (by marriage) the the mobster hunting him, but it is a surprise (to him) that it is a gay bath house. (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 193)

A Bard's Discount Houston Web Hosting Review
I've had a number of people ask me what web hosting service we use. Well, I finally wrote a brief article that lists all and with links to others. You can find quality, affordable web hosts for as low $4.95 per month. (Added: 19-Jul-2003 Hits: 224)

Abby's Free Stuff Is the place to find Free Stuff!
I just got a very cool letter from Abby's Good Stuff. Abby runs a freebie website. I submitted my Real Men Wear Kilts, free sticker page to her site. I've actually submitted it to many sites. She's the Only one who ever responded. And her response was delightful. (Added: 21-May-2004 Hits: 216)

An Unbiased SiteBuildIt Review
I've long been a supporter of Ken Envoy's SiteBuildIt. Ken Envoy is a brilliant marketer and seems to have created a program that offers a LOT of amazing tools for online marketers. So I was really excited when I met Dave Jackson from the Musician's Cyber Cooler. He told me he was using SiteBuildIt. So with a slight hidden agenda (an unbiased review of SiteBuildIt), I asked him what he thought of the program. This is what he sent back to me (and approved me to post it) (Added: 21-May-2004 Hits: 214)

Austin Computer Repair Services
I got my first Austin computer in 1995. It was made by an Uptime Computer Repair Services technician at Office Depot, named Andrew McKee. I'm pleased to say I was his very first Austin computer repair customer. (Added: 7-May-2004 Hits: 193)

Auto Glass Repair in Austin
While driving back from Louisiana, Andrew and I got stuck behind a truck with pebbles flying. Before we knew it, there was a wee crack on the window. That we crack grew and grew. Next thing I knew, there was a huge crack across the car window. It was time to get it repaired. (Added: 16-Dec-2003 Hits: 216)

Celtic Music: A Complete Guide Book Review
The first guide that charts Celtic music from its ancient roots through its modern performers Celtic music means many things to many people. To some, it recalls the Irish rebel songs of the Clancy Brothers, to others the ensemble playing of the Chieftains or Enya's ethereal vocals. (Added: 17-May-2004 Hits: 201)

Dressed to Kilt... Novelty Music Interview from the Austin Chronicle
We were written up this week in an exclusive Austin Chronicle feature called "The 'N' Word" about Novelty bands in Austin. Read the full article here. (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 190)

Free Prize Trip to New York
So where to begin? I guess leaving Austin. Ok, for starters, I mentioned a few days ago I was reading Free Prize Inside by Seth Godin. Well, that sorta sets a basis for much of my mental process for the weekend. I did take a LOT of time relaxing and by the end of the weekend, stopped thinking about free prizes altogether. That's a lot of what was on my mind. This is because my flight to La Guardia in New York, I read the book the whole way. It was a nice brainstorming session for me. (Added: 4-Jun-2004 Hits: 192)

Harry Potter Prisoner to Greatness
The new Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is, to quote Ron Weasley, 'Bloody brilliant!' Yeah, I just got done seeing the new Harry Potter movie, and it is awesome. I enjoyed the first two movies immensely. But I was a bit disappointed, mainly with the graphics. Lots of fancy computer character generation, and yet it still looked fake. (Added: 4-Jun-2004 Hits: 180)

Houston Door Refinishing Interview
Door refinishing in Houston is almost a necessity. With all the humidity that hits the city, it's tough to keep your door in a good condition unless you (a) know how to take care of your doors, or (b) have a professional to help you keep it in shape. (Added: 24-Jun-2004 Hits: 213)

Matinee on Serendipity Cinema
If you grew up at the movies, like I did, this film is a slam-dunk. You went to the shows and devoured films like the one above and the one below. The kid in this film is you (or me). (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 191)

Opus Fantasy Arts Festival Review
Wow! We had an absolutely amazing time at Opus Fantasy Arts Festival in Denver, Colorado. This year was a zillion times better than last with a great new hotel, well-organized events, concerts, and lots of great sessions. You wouldn't imagine Irish sessions at a Fantasy convetion, but I'm sure everyone would agree that craic was hot this weekend! (Added: 1-Jun-2004 Hits: 204)

Pleasantly surprised by a Liar
Ye know, a couple nights ago, I was reading a book and something occurred to me. I don't expect much from people I know. I mean... successwise. Sure they might succeed, but I guess I really just don't expect they will. This goes the same with our music. Andrew and I are still surprised by the overwhelming responses we get from our music. I don't know what that is, but it is. (Added: 3-May-2004 Hits: 185)

Review: Choosing a PowerShot S30 Digital Camera
Admittedly, I'm not an expert when it comes to choosing a digital camera. I chose my digital camera because my dad bought one and recommended it. But I am absolutely thrilled with the results! (Added: 18-Mar-2003 Hits: 230)

Shakespeare, do your worst! - Coriolanus Review
Okay, I'll take a break from the depressing MP3.com news that's been taunting me all morn and go on to review something I saw last night--Coriolanus by William Shakespeare. Ever heard of it? I hadn't. I mentioned it to Andrew who grew up going to the Houston Shakespeare Festival and his comment was something like, "It's the worst play by Shakespeare, which only goes to show why he's so famous." (Added: 5-Jan-2004 Hits: 206)

Solas at the One World Theatre
Ye know, one of the really big advantages of being on the board of the Austin Celtic Association happened last night. I was attending the ACA Board Meeting when Celtic Storm radio host, Donnelle McKaskle, came in with some free tickets to see Solas last night. So I grabbed one and went. (Added: 5-Jan-2004 Hits: 186)

The Be Good Tanyas
Sweet. A friend just introduced me to this band, The Be Good Tanyas. They're a band outta Canada. Great sound. It's very folky with some almost R&B type-impassioned vocals... but not like the crap you'd hear on Disney. This music grooves. Folk instrumentations, gorgeous harmonies. Sweet music! (Added: 3-May-2004 Hits: 192)

The Passion of Christ - Reviewed
Well, I saw The Passion of Christ at long last. I've been looking forward to it since it was released, but I must say, I was sorely disappointed. If you're looking for a good movie about Jesus, look elsewhere. (Added: 3-May-2004 Hits: 191)

The Quiet Bard - Irish Movie Reviews
Ah, what a wonderful evening last night. I finally got to see The Quiet Man and also got to see Waking Ned Divine at the Alamo Drafthouse thanks to The Gaelic League of Austin. It was a wonderful wee evening of Irish movies and some Gaelic lessons. (Added: 5-Jan-2004 Hits: 200)

Tim Sweeney's 'Successfully Playing Live' Review
I just bought Tim Sweeney's "Guide to Successfully Playing Live". It's a two-hour workshop on making your live gigs rock. I bought the double-tape recording because I admire his idea of giving away album samplers, and also, I remember listening to his "Living Room Sessions" and thinking it was intriguing. Fortunately, I can accept when I make a BIG Mistake. (Added: 4-Jun-2004 Hits: 211)

Voltaire, the Goth New York Tours
Before I left, I emailed Voltaire about hooking up. Voltaire is like a goth legend, and he lives in 'The City'. I figured as long as I was visiting, and he's one of the few folks I know from that area thanks to many run-ins at Sci Fi Conventions. Figured we'd hook up. (Added: 4-Jun-2004 Hits: 206)
