Bella Italia
I'm not master of the Italian language, but occasionally I can write decently. It really helps to have an online translater too. ;) This poem is a praise of my home away from home, where I'll be spending my Christmas holiday...in Italy!

Black Kitty Paw
This cat song is based on the Irish folk song, "Black Velvet Band". Sometimes, love, hope, and healing can come from the most peculiar places. This is a very sad and touching song about a man whose dog passes away. He learns to cope through the love of the oddest creatures, a black cat that crosses his path. Look for it on my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers CD.

Corpus Christi
Every few months, we head back to Cassidy's Irish Pub in Corpus Christi, Texas to play music. Cassidy's is always a great place to play. It's also a joy to walk along the waterfront and celebrate the ocean that I love and miss. This poem was written on a rainy day in December right before we headed home.

Here's to My Kitty
I'm a dog-lover, okay! But I made an exception with Jasper. Oh! What sweet and wonderful kitty I have one day I'll have to write a cat song. For now, we'll just have a cat poem.

Lights Whip By
A song written while driving at night to the Texas Renaissance Festival. I was inspired by Nancy and her love of the Beatnic poets of the 50s.

Magic of a Brand New Day
I went up to visit Scarborough Faire this weekend, and had a great conversation with Lili who used to perform with the Bedlam Bards. Lili sang an absolutely beautiful song she had written about faeries called "The Night Hunt" (or rather the Welsh version of that). It inspired me to write this poem.

The Heart of Fangorn
I'm a big fan of JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". The Brobdingnagian Bards were working on a tribute album to Tolkien , called Memories of Middle Earth which has me writing songs. This one is a good environmentalist song about Treebeard and the Ents, and the troubles they must face to thrive in a world where people destroy without care.

Weathertop
During my reading of J.R.R. Tolkien's LOTR, I was inspired to write this song by the famed escape to Weathertop. While staying in Bree, Frodo met with the Ranger, Strider, who saves them from being slaughtered by the Black Riders. The next morning, the companions flee Bree heading down numerous back roads and winding paths to throw off any followers. At last, they reach Weathertop only to have their foes overtake them in the night.
