I wrote this song while my ex-fiancee was living away from Austin. I was driving down 24th street in Austin, Texas, when I heard the song. I pulled into a park, and started writing. Balance and Harmony
One of my great frustrations in a relationship was balance. Sometimes it would feel like everything had to be balanced. If one person got something, the other would too. If one got a drink, the other would too. Maybe it's the Scotsman in me, but sometimes I just wanted to share one thing. It saves money, and it's no longer about balance. I wrote this love poem combining my world travel and world music influences in particular of Hawaii, Italy and France. It then became a song that I recorded solo and with the Brobdingnagian Bards. Oh, Frustration
Growing up was fraught with sexual frustration. In many ways, I was very much sexually repressed, largely by my own choice. It was disconcerting, yet at the same time, I feel it was a blessing. I have no regrets. But now, I feel I'm better able to deal with my self-imposed sexual frustration. And by doing so, in many ways, the frustration no longer governs my life.
