Stomach Rumble
by Marc Gunn, November 15, 2006
We're under a tornado watch.
The sky is rather bright compared to the dark ambience.
The rain plummeting in globules on the porch outside.
It's a tornado sky. Spun and unfun.
Decadent cascades on our tin roof.
Lightening followed by the quick stomach rumble of thunder.
Electrostatic activity.
The light bulbs burb in quick succession
As the blankets get thicker on the grass.
The sky grows more foreboding.
I am not scared. But I should be.
It looks like I feel.
Trees shudder beneath the angry sky.
I shudder beneath the voices of the morning rise.
Gacked away from the impeccable silence
That is my safety and deliverance.
The storm continues to swamp the earth
While we bury ourselves beneath earth's homely refuge
Hidden in the darkness of cascading rain.

As usual, Marc floods the reader's mind with delightful imagery--truly the soul of a poet!
very nice thanks for sharing the poem.
I live in florida and we have had, oh, I'd say 20,000,000,000 hurricanes in the past four years and this is quite the same feeling I've had before each.
Thank you Marc for your song lyrics and your hear to share your heritage!
May God bless you.
