Monster in My
Mirror (The Ernie Song)
 by Marc Gunn, 1997
I was
wondering what would Ernie, the muppet from Sesame Street, be like
if he was a manic depressive, so I wrote a song. All alone, Ernie
looks into a mirror and sees Harry the monster, and gets really depressed.
It has a very child-like sound to the recording. But the Ernie imitation
makes it kinda amusing and popular among friends.
every
morning when I wake i brush my hair clean
he's always there to make fun of me
his green and blue fur shake as he fusses about his jail
his goggly eyes jiggle while he gnaws on his tail
there's
a monster in my mirror
he's a queer sort of fellow
there's a monster in my mirror
it's kind of funny
there's a monster in my mirror
and he's gazing back at me
in the
afternoon he's green you can tell he wants to hurl
but who can ever scream when they're in a glass world
so he cries in the steam not wanting to unfurl
i'm not sure but it seems that his tears drip from my mirror
there's
a monster in my mirror
he's a queer sort of fellow
there's a monster in my mirror
it's kind of funny
there's a monster in my mirror
and he is so unhappy
every
day before i bed i stare at him a while
without a word said, he swallows my dial
the bubbles in his head form teardrops in my eye
he's a monster in my mirror and he just wants to die
there's
a monster in my mirror
he's a queer sort of fellow
there's a monster in my mirror
it's kind of funny
there's a monster in my mirror
and he looks just like me.
